For men, women, and children suffering from allergies, determining the source of the problem can feel overwhelming. With the help of our experienced medical team at the Arizona Center for Advanced Medicine, we can help patients find the cause of their symptoms safely and accurately. At our Scottsdale integrative medical center, we test for allergies using a variety of different methods. Whether we inject a solution under the skin, have the patient eat, or stop eating, certain foods, or put drops of extract under the tongue, we are able to determine what the patient may be reacting to.*

  • Foods and food additives
  • Meats
  • Nuts and spices
  • Molds
  • Spring or fall pollen
  • Animals and bugs
  • Chemicals
  • Minerals
  • Vitamins and nutrients

How Do We Test For Allergies?

There are several different tests we can perform to test for allergies, based on a person's specific symptoms and medical history. These tests can include intradermal tests using needles to inject saline and histamine underneath the skin, sublingual tests which are helpful for children who dislike needles, elimination diet tests, blood testing, skin testing, and more.

Testing takes time and results can be seen in as little as a few minutes but could also take weeks or more (as with elimination diet testing). Multiple sessions may be needed depending on how many things are being tested for and how the patient reacts. At your initial consultation with our doctor, we will discuss your specific needs as well as the best possible testing option for you.*

Can I Develop Allergies As I Get Older?

It is possible that you may experience symptoms of allergies, as an adult, that you didn't have as a child. These changes could be attributed to a weakened immune system or changes in environment.

Can An Allergy Lead To Anaphylaxis?

In some cases an allergy can result in a potential life-threatening reaction such as anaphylaxis. Allergy testing is an important step in determining the severity of your allergies.
