How Do We Test For Allergies?

There are several different tests we can perform to test for allergies, based on a person's specific symptoms and medical history. These tests can include intradermal tests using needles to inject saline and histamine underneath the skin, sublingual tests which are helpful for children who dislike needles, elimination diet tests, blood testing, skin testing, and more.

Testing takes time and results can be seen in as little as a few minutes but could also take weeks or more (as with elimination diet testing). Multiple sessions may be needed depending on how many things are being tested for and how the patient reacts. At your initial consultation with our doctor, we will discuss your specific needs as well as the best possible testing option for you.*

Can I Develop Allergies As I Get Older?

It is possible that you may experience symptoms of allergies, as an adult, that you didn't have as a child. These changes could be attributed to a weakened immune system or changes in environment.

Can An Allergy Lead To Anaphylaxis?

In some cases an allergy can result in a potential life-threatening reaction such as anaphylaxis. Allergy testing is an important step in determining the severity of your allergies.

  • Definitely a game changer!

“I just wanted to take a moment to email you to say thank you for your very detailed testing and even considering Lyme as a possible suspect to my ailments.* Had I not gone to see you I would have never even thought of Lyme as a reason for my weakness on my right arm and leg.* In your recommendations you had stated you wanted me to possibly get checked for Lyme and I asked and asked and not one insurance doctor would do the test.* Everyone said that there was no reason to check. Well, we moved to Virginia at the end of November and finally about three weeks ago the neurologist that I went to see for my migraines here tested me for Lyme. The results came back equivocal (1.10 on Elisa) and she simply stated that they found antibodies in my blood. And she started me on Doxycycline (100mg 2x day) for 21 days. I don’t know much about Lyme but will be seeing an infectious disease doctor on Wednesday. In the meantime, we had our newborn (born 1/21/13) tested with the Western blot and another test and per the pediatrician the results were negative. We will continue praying that he will not be affected. … Thank you very much for being that little guiding light that led us in the right direction.* Once again Dr.Grout, continue to do what you do.* You were definitely a game changer for sure.* *Disclaimer: There is no guarantee of successes for any given medical treatment. • Thankful!

“I have a special reason this year [2012] to be grateful: today, the day before Thanksgiving, is my 12th birthday since the doctors told me in 2001 that I would most likely not celebrate another one. At the time of my diagnosis, giving thanks was the farthest thing from my mind. But I know now that I had every reason to be grateful.* My very advanced diagnosis let me decide that, if I was going to die, I would do so with as much grace, dignity, and quality of life as I could manage.* That meant I would make the decision to take the road less traveled and refuse the ‘standard of care’: surgery, high-dose chemo and radiation. It meant that I would look for things to clean and strengthen my body and immune system, that I would find ways to grow spiritually, emotionally, and psychologically. The nine years prior to 2001, when I was dealing with chronic disease, gave me the tools to create my own healing platform. This healing platform of integrated tools and anti-cancer strategies kept me alive until I found IPT Targeted Low-Dose chemotherapy in 2002 and allowed me to literally watch the cancer leave my body.* Ultimately, it all meant that I would change my focus on life from what I could get from it to what I could give to it.* Best Answer for Cancer Foundation (BAFC) is the pathway that allows me to give back. I’m so thankful for the assistance and guidance that has helped make BAFC a thriving reality. I’m so grateful to the physician members of BAFC: to the doctors who have treated so many cancer patients, myself included. These wonderful physicians give selflessly of their time, their talent and – many times – of their own income to help people in need. They are truly incredible people, and I am honored to know them and call them my friends.* Every day, in every way, I am humbled by and thankful for the patients who come to us, who give us the chance to help them, who have the courage to walk the road less traveled of alternative and integrative medicine. They also remind me of the most powerful healing opportunity of my life and the wonderful road that resulted from it.* *Disclaimer: There is no guarantee of successes for any given medical treatment.
