Pediatric Frequently Asked Questions

Get Answers at Our Scottsdale Integrative Medical Center

At our Scottsdale integrative medical center, we are dedicate to helping patients reach their optimum level of health, no matter their age. We have compiled a list of some of the most frequently asked questions that we receive and answered them below. If you do not see your question below, contact us today.

How do I know if this practice is the right fit for my child?

We offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to offer you the opportunity to discuss your child's particular issues. Call today (480) 418-0220.

My child is afraid of needles. What can you do to address his or her fears? What techniques do you use to decrease the amount of pain from drawing blood?

Our team follows a "no needless pain" approach to caring for children. This means that venipuncture (needle poke) laboratories are only obtained if required for optimum care of your child. Certain information can be obtained from urine, stool, or saliva. We will use these non-invasive techniques whenever possible. Due to circumstances beyond our control, sometimes there is additional cost when obtaining labs from urine instead of blood. Sometimes only a few drops of blood from a quick fingerpoke (like people with diabetes do to check their blood sugar) or heelstick is needed (like the Newborn Screen).

If a needle poke is necessary, we utilize 2 simultaneous techniques so your child will be bothered as little as possible. These are numbing cream and the "Magic Glove" technique. We encourage parents to sit with their child during the poke to provide support and encouragement. We promote an honest environment in our clinic, explaining what is taking place, in developmentally appropriate language. We never threaten a needle poke as form of punishment. We hope you will support our unique approach.

Do you offer immunizations/vaccines?

We are not a primary care office and therefore do not have any immunizations. You may choose to obtain them from your primary care practitioner or Arizona Department of Health Services.

Do you see adults?

Yes. Depending on the circumstances, we may see the entire family or, the parents may see another practitioner in the practice. The main The Arizona Center for Advanced Medicine website is found here.

Do you offer family discounts?

Yes, please talk to one of our New Patient Coordinators for details.

Do you take insurance?

Our goal is to offer continuing, optimum patient care without having a patient's treatment dictated by a third party; hence, we do not accept payment from insurance companies. Instead, we prefer to have a direct relationship with our patients and to give them the opportunity to make the final decision as to which treatments are most beneficial for them or for their children. For that reason, all of the practitioners at The Arizona Center for Advanced Medicine are considered "out of network" for all insurances. Please click here for more information on how to submit requests for reimbursement from your insurance company.

Do you take Medicaid/AHCCCS?

No. We do not participate with any government or commercial insurance programs.
