He already understood that the root cause of heart disease is inflammation, and that his homocysteine and CRP measurements meant much more than his cholesterol measurement. We looked in his mouth and saw mercury fillings and knew we had a problem. Heavy metals are inflammatory. We tested him; his mercury level was off the charts. This week, he asked me to do a work up on his allergies because he realizes now that allergies are more than a springtime annoyance; they are another source of inflammation. Spring is here early this year. People with allergies are being slammed with sneezing, itchy throats, congestion and fatigue. It's one of the worst allergy seasons in years. We have a "smart" testing system for allergies and we are one of the few medical clinics that can custom make preservative-free allergy remedies. The older you get, the more important it is to address allergies, to stop making the internal inflammation that drives so much chronic disease.  Speaking of inflammation, gluten-free foods are increasingly popular as people want to eat less wheat. I want to share a bit of another patient's story with you, we'll call her Chris. She was in a roll-over car accident a year ago. She spent 4 months at the best neurological institute in the Valley, no significant improvement in her symptoms. She was not able to think clearly, and had severe neck and back pain. She came to us.
